The Mediator is saying that his Father's the boss, and do what the boss says. We better do it.

Now, this is a question I ask in all honesty, and without any intent to offend: Are you implying that you are simply using the Biblical framework as a way to structure your life...and that, in and of itself, the Bible has no divinely unique and otherwise irreplaceable meaning?
I try to look beyond the individual words, commas, and chapters to get a sense of the actual meaning and impact to my life and understanding.

The simple truth is confusing to many. The Genesis 3 account is not a metaphor. It is like surveillance tape, police interrogation and witness testimony, and judicial rulings handed down: all in one chapter. Distortions like it being an apple [it was, in fact, a piece of forbidden fruit, from the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Bad, if we want the full, correct legal description in common, modern English] are like the other distortions commonly told: the Easter bunny, the Santa Claus with Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer. Facts are usually the least of the story-tellers concerns. The actual Bible doesn't support those distortions. The Genesis 3 account parallels the first half of the illustration of the prodigal son. The final outcomes demonstrate the contrast between recognizing the rules we should play by and mocking them by our actions. Playing on God's side does lead to living forever. Playing against God's side means bad consequences, whether temporary (as in the case of the prodigal son) or permanent/fatal (as appears to be the case with Adam and Eve). The thought of disobedience led quickly to the act of disobedience. The longing or desire for what was forbidden led to the eating of the forbidden fruit. James 1:12-15 could be used to describe the events in Genesis chapters 2 & 3. Using James 1:15 leads me to label the eating of the forbidden fruit [which was what carried the consequences of death] as the sin.
Wisdom acts so as to have good consequences. Careful thought and guidance is required for that. We aren't equipped to handle things on our own. We must line our thoughts and actions with those the Creator supports to have real success.

Sex, theories, and philosophies aren't in the Genesis 3 account.
Why do humans grow old and die, since it was not God's purpose. Genetic malfunction due Adam and Eve both eating the forbidden fruit. Simple. Even today, AIDS can be transmitted to the unborn fetus for nothing it did wrong.
The Original Sin was disobedience.
"Satan" means opposer. The Original Serpent, a.k.a. Satan, certainly did oppose his Creator and has attempted to lead all humankind ever since. Fortunately, some humans have been repentant, and faithful to the Creator's instructions.
Men's leadership still stinks, and women are still blamed. Man's culpability is real, whether he admits to it or tries to shift the blame. God's not so dumb. His surveillance system works better than ours do.

Our creator is the God of truth. If we can't believe the Bible, what else is there that we can go on? My belief in God's Word allows me to keep my bearings and make a more sensible life for myself. The more I believe it's true, the better my life gets. To me, it's about sanity.
